Experience
Teaching is one of the greatest passions of my life. It has been a privilege to work with students of various backgrounds. Even though I have experience as a lecturer, teaching audiences in the U.S. and overseas, the most rewarding experience is tutoring students one-on-one. My background is in European history, literature, and philosophy. I enjoy the languages, including Latin, Hebrew, German, and French. I also enjoy sharing my love of religious studies. I was a professor of history and literature at Earlham College, a small school in the Midwest. I have enjoyed living, studying, and teaching all over the world, in various countries. I worked as a research fellow at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and as an English instructor at the University of Paris Nanterre. I have a Ph.D. in Germanic Studies and Comparative Literature from IU Bloomington, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from New York University. A professor in college accused me of catching "the reading bug," and I am guilty as charged. I believe literature can reshape society. In addition to reading, I enjoy writing (working on a book of my own), studying religion, helping my wife at our barn, playing basketball, and hiking with my dog. I tutor the languages (Latin, German, Hebrew, and English) and the humanities (religious studies, world civilization, introduction to poetry, British literature, and others). Additionally, I can help my students with test prep.
